In recent years, the concept of achieving net zero emissions has gained considerable traction as a critical target in the fight against climate change. The net zero goal refers to the balance between the amount of greenhouse gases emitted into the atmosphere and the amount removed or offset, resulting in no additional emissions being added to the atmosphere. While reducing greenhouse gas emissions is essential to mitigating the impacts of climate change, it is equally crucial to ensure that efforts to achieve net zero are equitable and inclusive.

This article explores the role of equity and inclusion in achieving net zero, with a focus on social sustainability and the importance of centring social justice in climate policy and action.
