Engineering with Nature: A Future-Ready Approach

Authors: Isaac Agyemang, Stephen Asiamah, Godslove Adom Duncan

The research highlights the critical need for resilient infrastructure that can withstand climate change and rapid urbanization in Ghana. The paper champions Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) like green roofs, wetlands, and permeable landscapes as adaptive and low-carbon alternatives to traditional “grey” infrastructure. It advocates for adopting a regenerative approach to urban development that enhances both human and natural systems. The paper emphasizes the need for future leaders in engineering to champion NBS for a more sustainable, equitable, and climate-adaptive future.
