Project Name: Consulting Services for Design and Construction Supervision for Solid Waste Disposal and Material Recovery Facility at Ayidan Saklah- Greater Accra Resilient and Integrated Development (GARID)Project
The project forms part of the World Bank funded initiative to the Government of Ghana which is implementing critical investments to deal with Climate Change impacts in the Odaw Catchment in the Greater Accra region by focusing on addressing drainage and solid waste management challenges.
In the project for the Detailed Engineering Design and Construction Supervision services for a landfill, we are in a partnership which is assisting the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources and the Greater Accra Resilient and Integrated Development (GARID) project, to carryout the development of a cost-effective landfill design which addresses key environmental impact management requirements.
The initial scope of the services include:
- The preparation of concept and preliminary designs for a new sanitary landfill and material recovery facility. This involves conducting:
- Conducting extensive field studies and analysis of pre-design data to develop alternative design concepts.
- Formulating Environmental, Social, Health and Safety (ESHS) management plan, along with institutional needs and environmental monitoring plans.
- Detailed engineering designs and bidding documents. This involves:
- Carrying out additional field studies and process designs
- Site development plans
- Design for electro-mechanical need
- Architectural design structural design needs
- Quantity survey and cost estimation
- Determination of equipment specifications
- Preparation of tender and contract documents
- Preparation of operation and maintenance manuals
- In a yet to be awarded phase, it is proposed that the following services will be provided:
- Continuous monitoring of work progress for compliance to quality standards
- Post-contract services to ensure the successful implementation of the project
Through these comprehensive efforts, the project aims to establish a modern and sustainable waste management facility at Ayidan, contributing to improved sanitation and environmental outcomes.
