Constromart Africa has reaffirmed its commitment to environmental sustainability through two impactful advocacy initiatives under the global theme #BeatPlasticPollution to mark World Environment Day 2025.
The first engagement was held on May 21, 2025, in Dawuda, a community in the Atebubu-Amantin Municipality. The event, themed “Empowering Households to Reduce Plastic Waste Through Traditional and Sustainable Practices,” brought together over 110 participants, including elders, youth, market women, and artisans.
Highlights of the event included:
- Educational sessions on the environmental and health hazards of plastic pollution.
- Demonstrations showcasing culturally relevant alternatives to plastics such as baskets, calabashes, and cloth bags.
- Presentations on infrastructure safety, highlighting how poor plastic waste disposal affects bridge locations and local drainage systems.
- Open community dialogues, promoting shared responsibility and ownership of sustainable practices.
This initiative fostered awareness and empowered residents to adopt traditional, eco-friendly habits in daily life, while reinforcing community solidarity through shared values and local knowledge.

To amplify the message across northern Ghana, Constromart also featured on Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) Radio in Yendi. The radio session addressed the dangers of single-use plastics, advocated behavioural change, and outlined simple, practical ways listeners could reduce plastic waste at home and in public.

These interventions align with Constromart Africa’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) commitments and its pursuit of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), and SDG 13 (Climate Action). Constromart Africa extends its gratitude to all partners, community members, and stakeholders who contributed to the success of these engagements.
